Navigating Feelings

Navigating feelings is kind of like a car navigating roadways and cities. You need to know the names of streets and routes in order to navigate the trip. Without that information you would be lost.

To illustrate, let's compare ourselves to a car. If our body is the car, then let's say our heart is the engine, our brain the navigation system and our feelings the info that feeds the navigation (our brain). You wouldn't want to travel anywhere without identifying the names of streets, when to stop, slow down, go around, protect ourselves and when to venture forward feeling safe and secure. Unfortunately, we do just that. We venture into the world without knowing our feelings. We turn left, press the gas and sometimes find ourselves places we didn't want to go. Identifying feelings informs our day to day decisions, from spending time with our family just the right amount of time, important career moves, who we want as friends and lovers right down to what we want to eat for dinner. Who knew we had feelings about so much?

So, take some time to sit with your feelings. You'll be amazed where they can take you safely, when you know them.
